Bomb Ass Brussel Sprouts

This is loosely based off of a Pinterest recipe I tried years ago for like Gruyere and bacon roasted brussel sprouts or something

What you will need pretty much:

  • An appropriately sized dish you can put in the oven
  • Brussels
  • 3 Tbsp of butter
  • 1 shallot (I think it says like 3/4 of a cup but I just chopped up 1 whole (what I believe to be average sized) shallot
  • Some Garlic
  • Bacon (I used 2 pieces of turkey bacon)
  • Heavy Cream
  • Cheese (I’m going to specify shredded or grated even though I feel like that really shouldn’t be necessary, I hope ya’ll aren’t out there slapping Kraft American squares on to dinner dishes)

These aren’t super necessary but I threw them in cuz why not

  • 1/4+ tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp of pepper
  • some garlic powder
  • some onion powder

Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees
  • Chop the butts off of your brussels and then “halve” them aka chop those mf thangs up
  •  Dice your shallot
  •  Mince your garlic
  • Chop up your bacon (or if you’re me, forget about it until later and then frantically cut it up with scissors as you stand over the stove)           -Side note here: I used turkey bacon, wasn’t bad.  ALSO you’re supposed to cook your bacon first and then sprinkle it on top before you put ur dish in the oven but as stated above I forgot about it and just threw it in while the brussels sauteed and it was gucci)
  • Melt your 3 Tbsp of butter
  • Throw in your brussels, shallots, garlic, spices and bacon if you didn’t feel like separately precooking it
  • Let that shit sautee for like 5-8 minutes (I have no idea how long I sauteed mine but that seems about right)
  • Put everything in to your dish
  • Then add 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • Then add cheese, I had like half a bag of some shredded white whatever cheese so I threw that in and then topped it with some freshly grated parm I had sitting in the fridge
  • Throw that in the oven- the recipe said 12 minutes but I think mine were in for longer.. I might say like eyeball and it, 10-15 minutes, you aren’t dumb, you know what melted cheese looks like. I might even watch until that shit is starting to turn golden and put that bitch on broil for a hot second

No, there’s no picture because cheesy brussel sprouts look like shit. In no way do they look appetizing when cooked and photographed by an amateur and also I was a bottle of $5 pinot noir deep so the aesthetic was not my main priority.
